Callum Richards, born in the Rhondda Valleys in South Wales grew up immersed in music. Born to parents who loved singers like Neil Diamond, Lionel Richie and Rod Stewart, Callum began singing at the age of 5 and began to compete in singing competitions across the UK from this young age.
As a child, he showed a natural talent for singing and regularly partook in choirs, and sang many times in theatre and school productions and was chosen o represent his school in various talent competitions. Callum won a UK wide singing competition where the prize was a trip to the USA to sing for the then senator of Boston in 2007.
It wasn't until 2013 at the relatively late of age of 16 that Callum picked up the guitar. He spent the next few years focusing in becoming a competent guitarist so that he could fulfil his dream of playing in a rock band with his friends.
In 2016 Callum began working as a professional musician when he started a band with his other musician friends from school, The Dragonflies (a band that is featured in the band option of this site!). plying his trade by playing at bars and workingmen's clubs, Callum learnt over these next few years how to navigate organising a set list, dealing with rowdy crowds and all the other trials and tribulations that come with being a professional musician!
Callum's career as a musician took a leap after the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021. During this period Callum relentlessly worked on his craft as he knew that becoming a full time musician was his dream. Between 2021 and 2023, Callum played many weddings and corporate events with his function band the Dragonflies and performed many times as a Solo Acoustic Singer, performing for Wedding Breakfasts, Ceremonies and Drinks Receptions.
In 2023 Callum hit a major career milestone by landing a position as the lead guitarist in a Theatre Production in the Comedy Club in London's West End! Since 2024, Callum has been Co-Producer and Songwriter for the American Based Artist Development Company, 'The Singers Company'! Callum also started up a second band to offer to clients; a trio band called 'Cal & The Chocolate Tarts'. Callum also released his own solo music in 2024, with two of his songs amassing over 60,000 streams.
In 2024, after performing at over 300 weddings by this point, and in being inundated with enquiries fir either himself as a solo singer or with either of his bands 'Cal & The Chocolate Tarts' or 'The Dragonflies', Callum started his Private Events Entertainment company 'Smooth Booking Promotions'. This allowed him to still offer live music for clients by providing other exceptional live music talent from his established network.
Now in 2026, Callum is running a successful Live Music Agency, is now working as a professional guitarist for various original bands and artists, and most importantly, is a seasoned luxury wedding and event musician, capable of offering live music for any scenario as either a solo musician or with a band!
